Katelin van Zyl is a Research Associate at Futurum Risk, where she conducts open-source intelligence research and analysis to support due diligence, risk assessments, and investigative mandates. She holds a Master’s degree (cum laude) in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies from the University of London, as well as Honours and undergraduate degrees (cum laude) in International Studies from Stellenbosch University.
Katelin studied Mandarin for several years and developed a particular focus on China within the field of International Studies. She has professional experience in the media sector as a researcher, writer, and editor, as well as in the non-profit humanitarian and development sector, supporting global grassroots partners in responding to crises within their communities. Her main areas of interest include geopolitics and international relations, forced displacement and migration, public policy, risk assessment, and financial crime.
