James Smith oversees all OSINT investigations at Futurum including case management, profiling, analysis, and reporting. He also manages internal resources such as databases, tools, and information sourcing, whilst identifying markets and partnerships for business expansion.
Whilst at Stellenbosch University, James completed an MA specialising in Data Ethics and Privacy Protection as a member of the School for Data Science and Computational Thinking and the Unit for the Ethics of Technology. He also sat as the youngest member of the Social, Behavioural, and Educational Research Ethics Committee, providing ethical review of over 40 research projects. His work on protecting children from digital manipulation was published in the internationally acclaimed journal AI & Society.
